The NDE Research Association (NDEvR) is a not-for-profit company established to represent the industrial members of RCNDE and handle the financial and commercial support for RCNDE. The industry sectors represented by NDEvR include: aerospace, power generation, oil & gas, nuclear, high-value manufacturing and defence.
The NDEvR membership’s support for co-funding advanced research and doctoral-level training in the NDE reflects the recognition by the industrial sectors represented that NDE is an essential enabling technology to help with company and national goals for industrial growth. The required future advances in NDE technologies cannot be assumed to become available to underpin the UK’s industrial and economic goals, and they must be properly planned and funded from the early-stage basic research programmes through to the pre-competitive stages of technology transfer.
The industrial member companies of NDEvR work together to provide shared leadership, vision and steering of RCNDE’s activities in order to create opportunities and value for all. An important task for NDEvR members was to prepare a collective view of their future requirements for NDE in their respective industry sectors, and more specifically at 5, 10 and 20-year horizons. The industrial vision process forms a key element of this responsibility. The process involved considering the trends, technological possibilities, emerging innovations and future sector and company needs. This review was undertaken in the context of a broad range of drivers, including market, regulatory, safety, environmental and economic factors.
